The Nancy Stueber Natural Sciences hall is a brand new, permanent bilingual exhibit in OMSI, the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. The exhibit is focused on climate action education through hands-on interactive learning and the sharing of community stories.
I assisted in 2D graphics and illustrations, applying existing visual language and color schemes throughout the panels, interactives and signs.
I designed an infographic wall at the entrance of the hall, explaining the effects of climate change in the Pacific Northwest through clear illustrations and colors.
This is a series of 5 wall panels, each featuring a different local group currently working on climate change initiatives. The panels were designed to model natural forms and shapes found in mountains, rocks and nature, each unique but to work together as a group.
We worked with the National Children’s Museum to bring their interactive, Climate Action Heroes, to the Natural Science Hall. I took the existing interactive, and adapted colors, shapes and vibe to match the branding and feel of the exhibit.
This is an interactive exhibit that invites visitors to step on different icons representing carbon positive and carbon negative items in tandem with guides from the screen. I designed the 2D section of the interactive floor, for the icons to be clear and stand out, while not competing with the activity happening on the screen.
I illustrated various natural energy sources to be used as play-pieces for an interactive, inviting visitors to explore how different forms of energy are sourced.
Instructive illustrations for different interactives within the hall.
